Lachlan is a native Virginian. She attended Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. She later graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Veterinary Technology Program at Northern Virginia Community College and became a Licensed Veterinary Technician in 2003. She has a total of 25 years in the veterinary field, which includes 2 years in a large animal ambulatory experience, 2 years of general practice, 14 years in a surgical referral practice, and 7 years in emergency and critical care.

Lachlan currently lives in Warrenton, VA with her husband of 25 years, 2 daughters, 4 dogs, 1 cat, 2 guinea pigs, and multiple fish. She likes to stay active outside of work and can be found at the gym, riding her bike, or taking a run.

Fun fact about Lachlan. She has completed the Marine Corps Marathon, many half marathons, and duathlons (run, bike, run).
