Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum 2 years of veterinary clinical practice
  • Active Virginia DVM license
  • Authorization to work within the United States
  • DEA license
  • Any other licensure or program required to be a veterinarian in good standing in the state of Virginia, including but not limited to prescription monitoring program
  • Maintain personal liability insurance as required by Summit Veterinary Care
  • Strong communication skills including verbal and written communication
  • Basic knowledge of tablets, computers, and digital medical records
  • Ability to complete fear free certification within first 3 months of employment (if not already certified)
  • Required CE to maintain license in good standing

Education:

  • DVM, VMD, or any other veterinary equivalent

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift/push or otherwise move 50 lbs
  • Dependable attendance required
  • Ability to walk, bend, stand, and reach constantly during an 8-10 hour work day
  • Visual acuity sufficient (accommodations available upon request) to maintain accurate medical records and understand written directions
  • Ability to speak and hear sufficiently (accommodations available upon request) to understand and provide information over the telephone or in person
  • Fine motor skills adequate for utilizing hospital equipment such as electric clippers, cold laser, syringes, radiology equipment, laboratory equipment, computers, surgery tools, and any other equipment required to perform the function of a veterinarian

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Commensurate with skills and experience, pay range from $120,000 to $175,000 annually
