I’m extremely grateful to the team at Summit Veterinary Clinic. I called around 7 PM about a concerning spot on my dog, and despite being close to closing, they kindly fit us in and eased my worries. The vet tech who took my pups intake was so accommodating and Dr. Catherine Johnston was fantastic—she came in despite having urgent care and treated my dog with kindness and professionalism. She answered all my questions patiently and made me feel very comfortable.

The staff at checkout were also wonderful—asking how my pup was, offering snacks and water, and showing genuine concern. Overall, it was a great experience, and I truly appreciate their care and dedication. Highly recommend!

I had the best experience . My puppy had his foot stepped on and as a first time dog owner I was so scared because he wouldn’t walk . When I got to the vet I was greeted with nothing but happiness and welcomeness . The front desk staff is so nice and helpful down to the staff. We started coming here when Dr Lewis and staff helped us when we lost our 10 year old Cane Corso a couple of months ago. The absolute love and compassion for both Orso and for us deeply touched our hearts. So much so we switched from our vet of over 10 years because that’s what I want all of my babies to be treated like. The staff is kind, friendly, and treat us all like family. If I could give Summit Veterinary Care 10 stars, I would. Dealing with them is a pleasure from the first call to the actual visit. When you first walk through the door, it is like a spa for pets. The front desk staff is wonderful. The Doctors and Vet Techs (may not be the correct word) are wonderful. They sit and explain things to you which is important for someone with a puppy. After my pup got some vaccinations, I even got a call from the Doctor checking up on him. I was floored.

I highly recommend them. You and your pet will not be disappointed.

It was by the Grace of God that I was referred to Summit Vet Care. I have a 6.5 yo Boxer mix named Beau. The need for vet care arose one day recently when he suddenly could barely walk.

I never expected the level of care both Beau and I received. We were treated like family from the moment we walked in the door. As Beau was examined, every detail was clearly explained, a was able to have my questions and concerns heard and answered, as we came up with a treatment plan and options together.

A few visits later, my baby is not only back on his feet, he’s running and jumping again!! We will be continuing to receive care at SVC to treat his chronic issues now that the acute situation has subsided.

We unfortunately had to visit under extremely emotional circumstances but from walking in the door, my husband and I, along with our dog Ritz were greeted warmly, by name (although it was our first time there), and with the utmost respect for our situation. The entire staff was compassionate, took their time to explain every step we were to encounter, and ensure we understood everything. The room we were in was purposefully home-like, maybe even akin to a 'relaxation spa,' and we all were very comfortable. Not at all the sterile atmosphere I was so hesitant about bring Ritz into. It also wasn't wasted on us that we were encouraged to take our time, digest and process the information we were being given, and memorialize out last moments with our pup. All so much appreciated! We hope to be repeat clients, under better circumstances, in the near future.

From the moment we walked in, all the people we met here were super kind, patient and considerate of our dog’s fear and anxiety.

Dr French and vet techs took their time to make sure she was comfortable with every part of the exam. By the end of the visit, our dog was very relaxed thanks to extra love and treats!

The staff is so friendly and considerate. They were especially respectful of my kitty's nervousness, so he was calmer than I expected since they gave him some relaxants before his appointment to help him. They were very gentle in their handling of him too.

Because of their fear-free policy, my kitty had a great visit and got caught up on his routine care. The attending doctor also had some helpful insight into possible future concerns to watch out for and were very helpful giving informative handouts.

Had a wellness visit today and it went far better than I expected. My dog is very anxious about vet visits and I’ve had issues finding places that will provide the care he needs.

We took our dog to Summit Veterinary Care today and had a great experience. Most importantly, we were able to get an appointment quickly and without issues. When we arrived we noticed that the facility was very clean, nicely decorated and a pleasant place to be under the circumstances. The place smelled fresh and didn’t seem like a veterinarian clinic. They offered a variety of snacks and beverages in the waiting area. They took great care of our dog especially when she was fearful of a quick moving thunderstorm. Shawn sent us pictures and even a video of her holding our little doggy girl to calm her. Dr. Starke and the tech and all the staff were welcoming and warm. They were thorough and answered our questions. We are very hopeful that our dog will get better after receiving the great care at Summit Veterinary Care. I will certainly recommend this practice to other pet owners. My only suggestion would be to have weekend hours.

Today I had to take my 11-year-old cat Ace in for an urgent appointment for an infection in his eye. This was my first time at Summit. I had an awesome experience and Ace was a lot more comfortable than I expected. As a cat they brought him to a room right away so he could walk around and get used to it before the doctor came. He jumped right into a basket and made himself at home and they even let him stay in the basket throughout his appointment. Highly recommend!!!

Definitely will be bringing all my pets here. I was panicking about my young puppy. My close girlfriend Shawn works at Summit suggested I come in for an exam and tests. After Shawn calm me down I scheduled an appointment for my precious puppy. When I arrived I was very pleased with the quality of care that I received. Not only did they care about my dog, but they also cared about the well-being of the other animals in case my puppy had Something contagious. Brooke was so friendly and Tara, Hailey and Dr. Kirk were great too. I highly recommend this place. I will be back with my puppy for his shots this Thursday.

We had our first visit with Summit yesterday. Our dog injured her leg and was limping heavily. WOW! I was blown away with how well trained, kind, and knowledgeable the staff was. Dr. Kirke saw our Sarge. She examined her gently and thoroughly. I was totally comfortable following the recommended treatment plan of dropping Sarge off for sedated radiographs and orthopedic exam. Turns out our girl has a torn cruciate and will need surgery. We will be having it done there. I will also be bringing my other pets to Summit! The practice was clean, joyful, and well organized. They even had snacks and drinks for my 2 kids. Absolutely recommend them for their Fear Free handling and overall standard of care

We took our cat in because he was having breathing issues, after visiting an emergency vet who dismissed his troubles as “just a hairball.” The folks at Summit Veterinary Care took great care of him and actually found out what was wrong with him, and diagnosed him with Asthma and another disease which could have killed him had it not been found. They went the extra mile to care for him and it was worth it, now our boy is home and feeling much better. I will definitely be bringing my other cats here, the service is excellent!

We recently took our dog in for some dental work which was long overdue. All of the staff there were very nice and professional. There was a young lady at the counter, I believe her name was Shawn? My wife and I were very nervous and concerned about how things work. Shawn really helped calm our nerves and made us feel more comfortable, we had so many questions and she was very patient. All in all Summit did excellent work on our dog and she is feeling better, I would recommend them to those looking for a good vet.

Dr. Susan Kirk and the care team at Summit Veterinary Care Are amazing. I was there with my baby Minute Roo. Everyone is so sweet, loving, and caring, they make sure you and your pet feel safe and comfortable. Great place to bring your babies! Very friendly and they work with you at every step. Summit feels like walking into a spa but they don't upcharge for it, prices are very similar to the vet I had used previously. My dog is very nervous in offices and around new people, Summit invites you to come in for visits (no charge) where you come in and they offer treats or other ways to allow your pet to get comfortable before they have an actual vet appointment. They are masters at distracting your pet and are very quick at what they do. Shawn at the front desk and Anthony the tech were both amazing!

My dog was at the Pet Expo and had her dew claw snagged while participating in the luring obstacle. We came across their booth and were told that they had an urgent care in Bristow. We tried to make it to our home vet to get them to take care of her but they were unable to. We decided to call Summit Veterinary Care and Brooke answered the phone immediately and told us that they could see our dog and to bring her in. Brooke was super helpful on arrival with check in. Once at the facility, we were treated with the highest level of care they could provide. Dr. Lewis and Christina went the extra mile to help us understand every step of the treatment process. They made our dog feel comfortable and that she could trust them.
While doing the procedure, Dr. Lewis and her team kept us up to date. They provide drinks and snacks while we waited for our pup. The waiting room is roomy and comfortable. We are beyond impressed with this team and can not say enough positive things about them. Outstanding practice!

Everyone I met at this clinic was so kind. Their number one priority is making sure your pet is comfortable and has a good experience at the vet. Dr Kirk is absolutely wonderful and cares so much about her four-legged patients. We had no trouble getting a quick appointment. If your pet is skittish about going to the vet (or if they love going to the vet - my pup’s a bit of both!), I highly recommend this clinic. Also, they have the nicest waiting room - lots of comfy seating and a snack/beverage station. The whole place is very spacious and it’s clear they put a lot of thought into building it out. Prices are very reasonable, too.

Last week, my senior dog, Annie, had an emergency in the middle if the day. Unfortunately, it was on the day when my regular vet isn't in the office and both nearby emergency clinics had a 3-5 hour wait. I took a chance and called Summit Veterinary Care and am so glad I did. They got Annie in quickly and took wonderful care of her! The whole staff was so kind and caring, and Dr. Starke was great with Annie. I left with a diagnosis, a prescription for medication, and recommendation for a change in diet. They've checked with me a couple of times since to make sure Annie's doing well with the changes. The clinic is beautiful and really comfortable. They've really paid attention to detail. I highly recommend them!

I could not have been more impressed by mine and my brother's experience here. After calling our usual vet and getting recommended this place due to them being full, we were able to get an appointment scheduled for only an hour or two after calling. The receptionist, Shawn, was super friendly, helpful, and personable. She got us scheduled quickly and was clearly invested in making sure our pup was going to get taken care of. The facilities themselves are extremely impressive, the building is very clean and nice and we were gotten to with almost no wait. The nurse we dealt with, Anthony, was also extremely helpful and personable. He took great care of our dog and made sure both us and our pup were comfortable. him and Dr. Lewis did a great job at making sure we knew they cared and understood their recommended treatment and diagnostic plan. At no point did I feel like we were being scammed or they were trying to get as much money from us as possible. They were very upfront and transparent with their recommendations and the cost and we did not feel pressured or like unnecessary expenses were being pushed onto us. There are some good vets in the area, but this was by far the best experience we've had and we will be taking both of our dogs here from now on. We're not out of the woods yet with our dog, but I have peace of mind that he's going to be taken care of and they will get to the bottom of whatever is making him sick.

I am overly impressed with Summit Veterinary Care & their entire team. I will start by saying I am extremely picky when it comes to my pet’s care team. In all the years of owning animals & visiting different clinics for their care, I’m not sure that I’ve been able to say that I’ve found a clinic that is exceptional in all aspects; both operational & medical care. However, Summit Veterinary Care has nailed it.

Our lab has been cared for by Dr. Lewis, Dr. Kirk, LVT Rosanna & vet assistant Christina Livingston. Let me just tell you how compassionate, thorough & knowledgeable this care team is. Not once have I felt rushed during an appointment or follow up phone call regarding diagnostics, etc. Everything regarding his care is discussed in great, easy to understand detail. My questions are never dismissed & I always walk away having a full grip on his care plan & feeling completely confident he’s receiving the best care possible.

Our lab has been treated by Dr. Kirk, Dr. Lewis, LVT Rosanna & Christina as if he were their own. Our pup gets extremely stressed in a clinical setting but this entire team goes above & beyond easing his anxiety; making sure he’s comfortable in every aspect of his visit.

Their client care staff; specifically Shawn & Brooke are exceptional. Not once has communication from the front desk to the back been dropped. Not only is their communication throughout the clinic on point but the way they treat their clients is the new gold standard. Shawn went above & beyond helping me with documentation needed for my pup’s insurance. She continuously followed up every email with a personal phone call to ensure I had everything needed to file my pup’s claim.

Summit Veterinary Care is a rare gem in pet health care. I would highly recommend this clinic to any pet parent looking for exceptional care & especially the fur babies who need extra attention in regard to fear & anxiety.

We cannot say enough good things about Summit Veterinary Care. First and foremost, Dr. Lewis and her team were exceptional from beginning to end. Our dog had an emergency and they were able to see and treat him within the time it took us to get to their office. Shawn, at the reception desk is incredibly friendly and helpful and she made this visit special. She helped us check in and updated us consistently throughout the afternoon. Dr. Lewis and her team evaluated our dog in the best manner I have ever witnessed a vet's office interact with him or any other animal. They made him calm instantly and performed the evaluation quickly and thoroughly. He then got a treatment plan and received treatment shortly after. He is doing great in recovery right now and we cannot thank them enough. I will also add that the office and the waiting rooms are extremely nice and comforting, the lobby is huge so you can have your own space, and they have refreshments for both people and dogs! There is also plenty of parking and it is easily accessible from Northern VA/DC.

I highly recommend this office to those locally and in the entire DMV area, it is very comforting to know we have such a highly skilled and efficient vet so close by. Thank you!

I recently visited Summit Veterinary Care with my 8yo mini-labradoodle and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience! We were referred to this particular clinic from a friend of mine, Dr. Melani French, due to our geographical proximity to this location. I was initially warmly greeted by Shawn E. when making our appointment over the phone. She was very kind-hearted and was able to schedule us for a next-day visit to assess the lump we’d had concerns about on our dog’s hind leg.

From the moment we stepped into the clinic, we were greeted with warmth and professionalism. The space itself was clean, organized, and well-maintained, creating a comfortable environment for both pets and owners. The décor and amenities were unlike any veterinary practice I’d visited and the staff was incredibly nice and accommodating, making us feel right at home. I’ll add that the dog treats and human snacks/drinks were especially refreshing for my anxious/timid dog and my husband/myself.

The care and attention provided to my pet by both Dr. Kirk and the assisting practitioner (Tara) were exceptional. They were knowledgeable, thorough, and genuinely cared about my pet's well-being. They took the time to address all of our concerns and provided clear explanations for go-forward procedures.
